Sharing your Lived Experiences of EBSA

Continuing the ongoing work on Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA), today schools were presented with the latest research, evidence and the opportunity to share what is working in other areas.

Ellie Costello from Square Peg presented the national context and research behind the rise of EBSA as well as providing schools with some practical advice along with Bristol University researchers.

SGPC shared insights from the local perspective, ensuring that feedback from our community, including survey responses, was communicated to schools. This feedback highlighted the daily challenges parents face in getting their children to school, as well as the impact of school behavior policies and the sanctions students encounter upon arrival.

We also heard directly from a parent who provided her personal lived experience and the impact EBSA was having on her child and family.

This was a powerful session helping to shape the learning around EBSA and its impact
