Health Services Survey
Your experience matters: take our parent carer health services survey
We know that navigating local health services for a child with SEND can be challenging. As a parent carer, you know better than anyone how important accessible, timely and compassionate healthcare is.
That’s why we’re inviting you to take part in our new Health Services Survey.
We want to know how well all the different services work for you when you are raising a family with SEND needs - whether that's getting a diagnosis in the first place; managing your child or young person's condition; how well healthcare providers talk to you, each other and other local services; or any other successes or issues you've had with the many different people who support your family's health.
This is an opportunity to share your real, lived experiences of the support your child or young person receives. Whether those experiences are recent or ongoing, your feedback helps us build a clearer picture of what’s working well and where improvements are needed.
We want to know how health services locally are supporting your children and young people with SEND. This includes GP practices, hospitals, mental and physical healthcare services, dentists, opticians, audiologists, pharmacies, community services such as health visitors and school nurses, assessment services and getting a diagnosis.
Who Can Take Part?
We welcome responses from all parents and carers of children or young people with any additional need or disability - diagnosed or not. This includes (but isn’t limited to) if your child is: neurodivergent (autistic, ADHD, etc); has learning disabilities; communication difficulties; sensory needs (hearing or vision); physical disability; complex health needs; social, emotional and mental health difficulties.
Every voice counts. Your experiences help us represent the wide range of parent carer families across the region.
The survey takes around 20 minutes to complete
Please complete one survey per child or young person
Your responses are completely confidential. Any information or data we do share will be fully anonymised to protect your privacy.
Survey closes at midnight on Sunday 18 January
Thank you for taking the time to share your views - your voice really makes a difference.
The collective voice of parent carers directly shape how we work to influence and shape better services and support for children and young people with SEND in South Glos. By taking part, you’re helping ensure that the real lived experiences of parent carers and heard and understood by local health services.
This survey is brought to you by the three local parent carer forums - Bristol Parent Carers, North Somerset Parent Carers Working Together, and South Glos Parent Carers (SGPC) – who come together as BNSSG to make sure the collective voice of parent carers is heard and understood.
As BNSSG, we make sure families’ lived experiences shape how services are designed and delivered. We meet regularly to share what families are telling us across our three areas and we collaborate on regional projects and consultations, turning lived experiences into clear messages that shape real change. Working together with the BNSSG Integrated Care Board (ICB), we influence improvements in health services, including therapy, mental health, and community services.
Each forum stays local, independent, and rooted in its own community - but by joining forces as BNSSG, we amplify the parent carer voice so it carries further, louder, and with greater impact on the things that matter most to our families.
