Sirona Annual SEND Health Conference 2025
A Day of Connection and Shared Purpose
Last week (19 November) Ellie and Robbie from our Parent Voice team headed to the annual Sirona SEND Health Conference – a day that brings together many health professionals who support our community, including Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists and more.
We all know how challenging it can be to navigate health pathways, and this year’s conference really highlighted that professionals are facing many of the same pressures. What truly stood out, though, was the commitment and passion everyone shared for making things better for SEND families.
Connecting with professionals
Throughout the day, we had lots of conversations with professionals who wanted to hear more about family experiences and how SGPC supports parent carers. We shared:
Our SGPC leaflets and information
Details about our online workshops for parent carers
Ideas for how professionals can signpost families to us
How professionals can join our Associate mailing list to stay connected to everything we're doing at SGPC and share our resources to families
It was encouraging to see how many practitioners are eager to strengthen their understanding of the challenges families face and work more closely with SGPC.
What we heard and learned
The conference hosted several thought-provoking sessions, including:
Murmuration Community Therapy, who gave a powerful presentation on supporting children with complex needs.
Dr Tom Allport, Consultant Paediatrician, who spoke honestly about the pressures facing health services and the importance of continuing to move forward together.
Cerebra, sharing helpful guidance on sleep and the support they offer to families.
Dr Jude Liberman, who explained the vital role of Educational Psychologists.
Each speaker brought insight, compassion, and a real sense of determination to improve things for children and parent carers.
Looking ahead
We want to say a big thank you to every professional who stopped to talk to us, share experiences, and explore ways we can work together. You can read more about how we work co-productively with professionals across the health, education and social care sectors on the “Your parent Carer Forum” page
