Banding (Top-Up Funding for EHCPs)
In response to posts on our closed Community Facebook group, there have been lots of questions around Banding, funding and use of 1:1 TAs in school. Last June 2022 we held an engagement event with South Gloc Council asking them to explain the Banding process and to answer some questions. You can find the video and some information in our earlier position statement below.
A second Banding Q&A session was due to be held following the moderation process last November 2023 however, this was delayed. We have asked the local authority when this will be re-scheduled.
We know this is a very important topic for our families and we continue to raise this with the local authority.

You may or may not have heard that Banding is being introduced for Education Health and Care plans (EHCP).
South Gloucestershire Council has sent out letters to all schools for them to send out to parents. It also provides further information on other areas the council are working on. A copy of this letter can be read via the green link below at the bottom of the page or on the council’s SEND Local Offer updates page.
Many of you have already fed back your questions and concerns via our survey to ask for more information. We fed these concerns feedback to South Gloucestershire Council who agreed to facilitate an online information session for parent carers on Thursday 30th June 10:00 - 12:00 pm where South Gloucestershire Council explained the new banding system which funds Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Families also had the opportunity to meet with LA officers to discuss any questions re-banding on some online surgeries.
