SGPC Wins The Lottery!

We’re celebrating!

We’re thrilled to have been awarded a grant from the Community Lottery Fund!

The successful bid was the result of months of behind-the-scenes hard work by the SGPC team and totals a whopping £275,000, over 5 years.

We applied for funding to expand our services as a direct result of the increase in demand of Parent Carers requiring support.  The Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted services, social communication, and routines, resulting in far-reaching consequences for children and young people – one of the challenges arising is emotionally base non-attendance (EBNA) within schools.

Listening to the parent voices shared with us since the first lockdown, we are aware of the resultant added pressure and responsibility for Parent Carers - and how it has led to increased feelings of isolation, overwhelm, anxiety, and increased requests for support. That’s why were using some of the funding to expand our services, enabling us to reach even more parents of local children with SEND. Find out more about our services here

During the year ahead you can be sure of our continued support

·      Continuing to provide a channel through which parents can express their views to help shape future services

·      Increased opportunities to expand knowledge, via training, workshops, and peer support

·      Hosting our supportive peer community. A place where families feel listened to by members who live a similar
journey, and where their views and experiences will be understood and valued

·      Providing a Parent Carer community that works to reduce feelings of anxiety and isolation, and provides tools
that help to strengthen the capacity of parents to support their children

We think you’ll agree, there’s a lot to celebrate!
