Dates for your diary

Welcome back, and Happy New Year! It looks like 2026 is already shaping up to be a busy year for us. Here are just a few things coming up...

  • Right to Choose updates: We have meetings planned with health services to understand what’s happening with the Right to Choose pathway. We know many families are waiting for news, and we’ll share an update as soon as we can.

  • Health services survey - closing soon: Our survey closes on Sunday 18 January, so this is the last chance to have your say and help shape the future of SEND healthcare. Once it closes, we’ll be analysing the responses and putting together a report to share with service providers.

  • New EBSA videos coming: We’ll be adding more videos to our EBSA resource series soon. We hope the first two have been helpful. If you haven’t seen them yet, they’re available in the resources section of our website.

  • PINS project: Work on the project continues, with more parent sessions planned for participating schools next term. You can keep up to date on our website here.

  • Ongoing support: Our peer support team is here for you. Whether you need information, ideas, strategies or signposting, you can reach us by email or come along to one of our drop‑in support sessions. Click here to find all the ways to get support.

Coming Up: NDCS visit

On 22 January, a local representative from the National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) will be joining us at the Community Base.

This is a brilliant opportunity for families of children with a hearing loss to find out about the wide range of support NDCS offers, including:

✔️ Tailored one-to-one support for families

✔️ Advice for parents of newly identified deaf children

✔️ Help navigating school transitions

✔️ Guidance on hearing aid management and glue ear

✔️ Support accessing BSL lessons

✔️ Emotional and practical support from people with lived experience

Monthly Support from SEND & You (SAY)

Every month, we also welcome an advisor from Send & You (SAY), the local Information, Advice and Support Service (IASS). SAY can help you feel more confident navigating the SEND system by offering:

  • Support to communicate clearly with professionals across education, health, and social care

  • Information about local policy, the Local Offer, Personal Budgets, SEN and disability law, and more

  • A listening ear to discuss any concerns you may have
