Autism and ADHD assessments (Right to Choose) May 26
We know that waiting for assessments can be a really worrying and uncertain time for many families. We wanted to share a short update about Right to Choose in our local area.
What’s changed
The two providers commissioned by BNSSG Integrated Care Board (ICB) have now unpaused their assessments for the new financial year.
This means these providers may likely be the ones your GP may refer to when discussing an assessment.
What this means for families
Referrals may begin to move forward again with commissioned providers
Your GP will usually refer to services that are locally commissioned but you can look at other providers if you wish
If you are considering other Right to Choose providers, availability may vary
Important to know
The ICB is not able to confirm the status of providers that are commissioned outside of BNSSG.
Because of this, it’s important to check directly with individual providers for the most up-to-date information about:
Whether they are accepting referrals
Current waiting times
Any changes to their service
We understand that navigating this process can feel confusing. If you are unsure about your options, it may help to speak to your GP or seek further information before making a decision.
At South Glos Parent Carers (SGPC), we will continue to share updates and represent the experiences of parent carers to help improve local services.
