Short Breaks Focus Group

Are you a parent or carer of a child with a disability in South Glos?

Has your child accessed any short breaks provision such as: Brandon Trust, Special Friends Club, FACE, WECIL, Sense etc. over the last five years?

The Local Authority are in the process of reviewing their short breaks process and provisions. SGPC have provided the Local Authority with crucial feedback on this which included the report prepared based on your responses to our September 2023 survey: Short Breaks Survey 2023 — South Glos Parent Carers (sgpc.org.uk).

The project group has been working since October 2023 and has created a plan for how short breaks services could be accessed by families. It’s now time to hear your feedback. Your voice is so important – it can bring about change to local services which work for children and young people with SEND and their families.

We are asking for volunteers with recent (in the last five years) experience of accessing short breaks such as: Brandon Trust, Special Friends Club, FACE, WECIL, Sense etc, to join us on the Thursday 26th September to be part of a focus group to discuss the project and the new process being considered to help families better navigate short breaks provisions.

Representatives from the Local Authority project group will be present to discuss and hear feedback on the project.
