SGPC’s Response to the SEND Reform Consultation

Today, South Glos Parent Carers submitted our formal response to the government’s SEND Reform consultation on behalf of every family we represent across South Gloucestershire. This has been an important and significant piece of work for SGPC, and we want to be open with families about how we approached it.

The Government consultation set a strict limit of 1,500 characters per question to capture everything families told us about a system that shapes every single day of their children’s lives. However, we want to reassure you that we read everything you shared. We reviewed every survey response, comment and concern, and worked carefully to make sure the key themes families raised that we have collected were reflected in our submission.

This included accountability, enforceability, tribunal rights, early identification, gaps and the need for inclusion to be meaningful in practice, not just in principle.
