360° Outreach Project for Schools and Families Term 3
Our 360° Outreach project supports schools and families working together to build a picture of the “whole child” and better understand the child’s needs.
Our peer support team visit participating schools, running coffee support sessions where families are able to find out more about SGPC and the support that is available to them locally as well as connecting with other families within their own school community.
Both staff and families from the participating schools also have access to a series of online workshops. These workshops are run over Zoom and generally last around 1 hour 20 minutes. Each starts with an introduction to the topic from the trainer, and there’s always plenty of time to discuss any questions which come up on the day.
How do I know if my child’s school is participating.
All mainstream Primary and Secondary schools in clusters 3, 4.5 and 6 are taking part. If you’re not sure if your child’s school is included, please check the list of participating schools here.

What’s on This Term
A 360° Approach to masking
Monday, 29th January 1:15pm
The session will be delivered online through zoom by Claire Phillips an Autism specialist. No diagnosis is required to attend the session - it is available for Parents, Carers and school staff
Masking is a mechanism some girls and boys use to alter their personality and behaviour in certain environments to conform to social norms and appear to fit in.
The session takes a 360 approach, connecting families and schools and will look at strategies for supporting young people in both home and school environments.
It will consider:
· why children may feel the need to mask
· how parents and educators can spot the signs
· how this may impact on children’s sense of self and mental health
· how this may change as they move through primary and secondary school.

Coffee Support Sessions
Your child doesn't need to have a diagnosis for you to be able to attend the Coffee Support session. In fact, a coffee event is an ideal way to find out what support is available at each stage of your journey and to meet some friendly faces and know you are not alone.
All our coffee support sessions will begin with a short presentation, followed by an opportunity to chat with our peer support team.
This term, the focus of our Coffee Support sessions will be anxiety and difficulties attending school as we know that these are topics which are relevant to so many families. However as with all sessions, there is time after the presentation to discuss your individual situation and any other issues you are facing.
